01 Define the product and intended use
02 Lock dimensions, materials and components
03 Share branding, packing and launch needs
Manufacturing-ready checklist

The stronger the information, the faster we can identify risks, suggest improvements and prepare a realistic quotation.

01

Product brief

Explain what the bag is, who will use it and what problem it needs to solve.

  • Bag type and use case Backpack, tactical pouch, tool bag, medical pack, bikepacking bag or other product, with the main usage conditions.
  • Target user and market Professional user, outdoor brand, defense buyer, rescue team, EDC customer or another clear audience.
  • Target quantity and timeline Expected first order quantity, repeat order potential and target launch or delivery date.
02

Dimensions and structure

Give enough detail for pattern review, capacity checks and construction planning.

  • Overall dimensions Height x width x depth, plus capacity if relevant.
  • Compartment layout Main pockets, organizers, laptop sleeves, hydration areas, foam zones and access points.
  • Reference sample or photos A physical sample, marked-up photos, sketches or competitor benchmark can speed up development.
03

Materials and hardware

List the materials and components that affect cost, performance and lead time.

  • Main fabrics Material name, weight, composition, coating, finish, color and performance needs.
  • Lining, foam and reinforcements Internal fabric, EVA or PE foam, webbing, binding, mesh, back panel structure and reinforcement zones.
  • Hardware and trims Zippers, pullers, buckles, D-rings, hooks, snaps, sliders, cord locks and any preferred brands.
04

Construction details

Clarify how the bag should be assembled so sampling does not rely on guesswork.

  • Stitching and thread Stitch type, thread color, bartack positions, seam finish and visible topstitch preferences.
  • Critical performance areas Load-bearing points, abrasion zones, water-resistance needs, removable parts and safety requirements.
  • Quality expectations Any inspection standard, tolerance, test request or defect that must be avoided.
05

Branding, packing and compliance

Include the final commercial details buyers often forget until late in development.

  • Branding placement Logo size, label position, woven labels, heat transfer, embroidery, patches or printed graphics.
  • Packaging requirements Polybag, hangtag, carton marking, folding method, barcode, inserts and retail packing needs.
  • Compliance requests REACH, PFAS-free, recycled-material claims, customer audit requirements or other documentation needs.
No full tech pack yet?

Send the minimum information and we can help complete the path.

Many projects do not begin with a finished technical file. If the idea is clear, FFG can still review the project and advise the next practical step.

  • Photos or sketches of the product idea
  • A reference sample or competitor example if available
  • Target order quantity and target price range if known
  • Main use case, user type and must-have features
  • Any material, certification or deadline constraint
